Driving #

There are bridge tolls in Motala, Sundsvall and Skurubron. Cars registered abroad will be taxed automatically, and bill sent to vehicle owner. Motorbikes and mopeds do not pay bridge tolls. More info available on The Swedish Transport Agency website.

There is a system of congestion taxes in Stockholm and Gothenburg. The tax applies to vehicles registered in and outside of Sweden. Motorbikes and mopeds are not liable to the tax

Payment issues #

• Some vendors like street food trucks only accept Swish! Make sure to ask before ordering!
• Some automated gas stations did not accept my Platinum Visa, but i could pay with regular Mastercard. If you only have one card - refuel more often and use stations that have a store attached with cash payment option.

Accommodation #

Check-in after ~17:00 is considered “late” in Sweden. If you prefer cheap hotels - make sure to book in advance and always verify availability of late check-in or self-check-in.
